DIVERSIFIED business conglomerate Videocon today said it plans to generate 5,000 MW power through projects in Gujarat, Chhatisgarh, Maharashtra and West Bengal.

Ahmedabad: Moving first among the six states through which the proposed Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) passes, Gujarat is planning to set up a 2,000 MW capacity power plant. The location of the power project would fall along the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).

Gandhinagar: The state government on Tuesday claimed that the piped domestic gas connections in Ahmedabad have touched the 73,000 mark.
In reply to a question by BJP MLA from Rakhial Jayanti Kakadia, the government said the number of connections in Ahmedabad city had crossed 73,000 mark and another 18,045 connections were in process.

Surat: Historical records say that from early 20th century, entrepreneurs of the city proved their worth under the British Rule and supplied i n d i g e - nous machineries to the ind u s t r y, a g riculture and other sectors. One such creation was crude oil engine by a Surti industrialist Ratilal Nanavati in 1931-32.

The 88 industrial clusters identified by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will be re-verified for the amount of pollution they generate, on the basis of which they will be re-rated.

Hong Kong-based CLP Group company CLP Power India Pvt Ltd will invest $800 million (over Rs 3,700 crore)to augment its power generation capacity from renewable resources to 650 Mw by the end of this year.

Out of the total target, 346 Mw is under construction, while 104 Mw is operational. The company has also identified locations for building the remaining capacity.
