Consignments of animal parts, including tiger skulls and pangolin scales, were once again seized from an Imphal-bound flight at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi international airport today making it the third instance of such seizure by the Customs department, Guwahati in the span of last four days.

IMPHAL, June 10: Over 500 houses were inundated by water and more than 5000 people displaced by the Nambul river which has been in spate following incessant rain.

The local authorities on Tuesday requisitioned the services of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to carry out rescue operations in Guwahati after heavy rains in the past three days led to large-scale inundation of numerous residential localities in the Assam capital.

Manipur has been experiencing chilly weather since the New Year eve after a cold wave hit both hill and valley districts affecting normal life. The Hill districts particularly Chandel, Senapati and Ukhrul have witnessed snowfall since the last four days.

An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale, rocked the entire Manipur around 2.32 pm today. However no damaged or casualty is reported so far.
