The Report contains the results of performance audit of disaster management activities of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir covering the period from 2010-11 to 2014-15 including the drought of 2009, the cloudburst in Leh of 2010 and the floods of September 2014.

National Green Tribunal dismisses the Application on the count that the Tribunal does not have jurisdiction to adjudicate the present controversy as it does not fall within the purview and scope of Section 14 of the NGT Act, 2010 so as to settle the dispute herein.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Amresh Singh Vs. Union of India & Others dated 14/03/2017 regarding dumping of debris from the construction of the road from Udhampur to Banihal in rivers Ravi and Chenab, Jammu & Kashmir. NGT directs NHAI and the State of Jammu & Kashmir to ensure that all the subcontractors are served notice and they appear before the Tribunal on the next date of hearing (26/04/2017).

Overt vitamin A deficiency has been controlled in most parts of India, but prevalence of subclinical deficiency may still be high, which may enhance susceptibility to infections, reduce growth potential and also lead to higher mortality. We aimed to: (i) assess the consumption pattern of vitamin A-rich foods in children 1–5 years of age in rural Jammu; and (ii) estimate the dietary deficiency of vitamin A leading to risk of subclinical vitamin A deficiency in cluster- villages of the study area.

Global Circulation Models (GCMs) are a major tool used for future projections of climate change using different emission scenarios. However, for assessing the hydrological impacts of climate change at regional scale, the GCM outputs cannot be used directly due to the mismatch in the spatial resolution between the GCMs and hydrological models. In order to use the output of a GCM for conducting hydrological impact studies, downscaling is used.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Irfan Ahmad & Ors. Vs. Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora & Ors. dated 24/01/2017 regarding sanitary landfill site at Srinagar.

NGT directed the Jammu & Kashmir Government that within one week it should bring complete and comprehensive action plan to ensure handing of municipal solid waste in accordance with Solid Waste Management Rules 2016. The State was entitled to have its opinion with regard to stakeholders who would establish Waste to Energy or Waste to Bio-methane and RDF to Power Plants.

Present investigation was carried out in three blocks; Hiranagar, Dinga Amb and Marheenof Kathuadistrict of Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir located in the sub-tropical zone to identify and document the under-utilized forest tree species and their multiple traditional uses. Study revealed that people in the study area make multiple traditional uses of eight tree species which are ordinarily considered under-utilized, viz. Aegle marmelos L., Carissa spinarum L.; Cordia dichotoma var. wallichii, Ficus palmata Forsk. syn . F.
