A new report from Global Witness shows that the Philippines ranks as the deadliest country in Asia for environmental and land defenders in 2020, and the third deadliest in the world.

The report reveals that the increasing pace and intensity of climate hazards will strain military and security services around the world as they are called on to respond to climate-driven crises, while also facing direct climate threats to their own infrastructure and readiness.

Impunity still reigns when it comes to the murders of human rights defenders around the world, according to the Front Line Defenders organization, in its global analysis of 2020.
