KOCHI: Thrikkakara municipality is actively considering a proposal to purchase about 10 acres of land for the scientific disposal and treatment of waste.

A decision to this effect was taken at a municipal council meeting held recently.

KOCHI: Giving a boost to the Kochi Metro Rail project, the state government has decided to constitute a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the implementation of the project. The state Cabinet which met on Wednesday decided to constitute the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd with the Chief Minister as its chairman.

Once the company is registered, it will oversee the implementation of the project.

Thiruvananthapuram: Union environment Minister Jairam Ramesh on Monday said the proposed international cricket stadium in Kochi and the hydel power project in Athirappally cannot be given environment clearance.
