LUCKNOW: In a bid to propel expansion in power sector, the Uttar Pradesh government has accorded status of industry to all new power projects coming up in the state. A proposal to this effect was cleared by the State Energy Task Force (ETF) at its meeting presided over by chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta here on Wednesday.

The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) will launch a fortnight-long agitation from May 15 to protest the acute power crisis in the state.

LUCKNOW: In a major decision to improve power scenario in the state, the state government has cleared two new power projects of around 2,450 mw and also approved refurbishment and upgradation of the ongoing Parichha Thermal Power Project consisting of two units of 210 mw each.

This was decided at a cabinet meeting presided over by chief minister Mayawati here on Tuesday.

LUCKNOW: Petrol and diesel will get dearer for people in Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra from April 1, 2010. While petrol will cost 50 to 53 paise more per litre, diesel will be costlier by 27 to 30 paise more.
