Order of the National Green Tribunal (Western Zone Bench, Pune) in the matter of Central Pollution Control Board In Vanashakti Public Trust & Others Vs. Maharashtra Pollution Control Board & Others dated 14/09/2016 regarding environmental pollution caused in the riverine system of Ulhas River in Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The sources of environmental pollution were identified as untreated sewage and industrial effluents passing in riverine system of Ulhas River.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on 2 July 2015, ordered CPCB to ensure that Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) takes stringent action against polluting industries along Ulhas river and also asked Dombivili CETP, Ambernath CETP , Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation and Dombivali Corporation to deposit 70 crores with the Konkan District Commissioner for restoration and restitution measures.Read full text of this judgement.
