The Mining and Geological Department of Meghalaya on March 24, 2022 has issued the Meghalaya Minerals (Prevention of Illegal Mining, Transportation and Storage) Rules, 2022.

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) report in the matter of M. Haridasan & Others Vs State of Kerala dated 09/07/2020 regarding distance criteria for permitting stone quarrying.

Compliance report on behalf of the Chief Secretary Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in terms of the National Green Tribunal order of April 5, 2019 and July 26, 2019.

The matter related to unregulated mining of minor minerals and sand mining. The report informed the Tribunal that no mining lease had been granted without obtaining environmental clearances from the concerned authorities. Jammu & Kashmir has very little scope for exclusive sand mining, as sporadic sand occurs with river bed material across Jammu & Kashmir.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Sand Mining, 03/07/2019. The State Governments are custodians of the minerals located within their respective boundaries. The States grant the mineral concessions under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Act, 1957.
