The Centre has proposed a ban on non-recyclable laminated multi-layered plastic and metallic pouches used for packing shampoo, gutkha, pan masala and foodstuff like wafers and biscuits.

Despite a popular demand for it, and Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh having already set a precedent, India will not have a blanket ban on plastic carry bags.
