The Government of Punjab on January 27, 2023, issued the Punjab Ground Water Extraction and Conservation Directions, 2023 under powers conferred under Section 15 (2) of the Punjab Water Resources (Management and Regulation) Act, 2020. These shall extend to the whole of the State of Punjab.

With the objective to bring down the prices of sand and gravel in the State of Punjab, the Punjab State Sand and Gravel Mining Policy, 2023 is notified under Punjab Minor Mineral Rules, 2013 framed under section 15 and section 23C of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.

Final report of the Monitoring Committee constituted by the National Green Tribunal on various environment issues in the state of Punjab, with respect to compliance of order dated February 8, 2022 in Original Application No. 360 of 2018 in the matter of Shree Nath Sharma Vs Union of India & Others.

The report mentioned the compliance status of environmental norms in respect of various thematic areas as mentioned in District Environment Plans of various districts of state of Punjab. The report was submitted on December 27, 2022.

New saplings will be planted in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (SAS Nagar), Punjab from time to time during the planting season by the Municipal Corporation and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and proper space will be kept around the trees. The work of de-concretization around trees will be undertaken and in place of interlocking tiles, perforated tiles will be installed.

Report filed by the Punjab Pollution Control Board on M/s Trident Factory, Dhanaula, Mansa road, Barnala. The NGT, February 8, 2022 had directed Trident Factory to pay a sum of Rs. 5 crore on 'polluter pay principle'.

The amount to be deposited in a separate account was to be used for improvement of environment of the area as per action plan to be prepared by the Central Pollution Control Board and the Punjab Pollution Control Board.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of HC Singla Vs State of Punjab dated 31/10/2022.

The matter is related to biological pollution by the Susri insect. This pollution is being caused due to decaying grains, due to negligence in storage arrangements of grains by Food Corporation of India in its godowns at Sirhind Road, Patiala. The biological pollution is affecting nearby residents.
