MADURAI: Rural development works worth Rs. 6.83 crore such as laying roads to connect remote villages and constructing public distribution system shops will be taken up this fiscal in the district.

The NREGS week has worked wonders for Giridih.

For the first time, all villages of the district got covered under the rural job scheme. This probably makes Giridih the first district in the state that can boast NREGS projects in all its revenue villages.

The NREGS week was observed from August 25 to 31.
