April 1: The century-old Singareni collieries decided to offer six of its coal mines to private developers at a cost plus basis. Javaharkhani Opencast, Kothagudem Opencast in Khammam district, Chennur-1 and 2 and Ramakrishnapur Shaft block in
Adilabad district and Kakatiya Longwall in Warangal district have been identified for private participation.

Adilabad, Feb.14: The Union minister for forest and environment, Mr Jairam Ramesh, said that he will ensure permission for the Singareni Collieries Company Limited to establish another 600 MW thermal power project in second phase if the management completes the first 600 MW project in the first phase by July 2013.

ADILABAD, Feb. 14: Union minister for forests and environment, Jairam Ramesh, said that he would ensure permission to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for establishing the proposed 600 megawatt (mw) thermal power project under the second phase on condition that the Singareni management completes the first 600 mw thermal power project and start power generation by July 2013.

June 28: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has decided to tear up the ground in a process called open cast mining, to meet the voracious demand for coal. The decision could render 20,000 people homeless and affect 200 villages.

Hyderabad, Oct. 18: The state government has given administrative sanction for the Rs 2,700-crore 600-MW thermal power project to be developed by Singareni Collieries (SCCL), a state-owned undertaking.

This is the first time that the SCCL is developing its own power plant.
