COIMBATORE: Kurichi Municipality has drawn up a slum development programme that will be funded partly by the Central and State Governments under the Basic Services for the Urban Poor.

Mumbai: In a bid to eradicate slums from the city, the state Government has set up a core committee to prepare a concept plan for providing cheap housing in the region. The concept plan, a longterm initiative, will aim at building more affordable houses and houses on moderate rents.

Mumbai: Although the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has promised 24X7 water supply to the city in its annual budget, the fact is that Mumbai will have to wait for almost two years, till 2011, for that to happen.

At present, the BMC simply cannot provide more water to the city, according to a white paper that is to be tabled soon.
