Dumping of marble and granite waste in the storm water drain of Mohi village, district Rajasmand.

The NGT, February 22 called for a report on the complaint received from a number of villagers of Mohi village, tehsil and district Rajasmand, Rajasthan. The allegation was that some of the marble and granite units in the area are dumping marble and granite sludge/slurry and other waste in the storm water drain obstructing its flow.

The matter related to stone crushers operating in district Mahendergarh in Haryana.

The court observed that "inspite of negative carrying capacity of the area in terms of air quality, large number of stone crushers are being permitted to continue".

The NGT, January 18 directed a seven member joint committee to submit a report on the operation of stone quarries close to residential places and public roads in Kerala. The report filed by the Central Pollution Control Board, July 9, 2020 in its remarks had said that "there is no merit in the contention that even at the cost of environment, mining must be allowed having regard to peculiar topography of Kerala.”

The matter related to non-construction of a protection wall from Simbalkhal to SIIDCUL for protecting flora and fauna of reserved forest of Rajaji National Park and huge illegal mining and stone crushing going on in the said forest causing damage to environment.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Sanjay Singh & Others Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 04/01/2023.

The application has been registered on a petition sent by various persons of Sonebhadra making a general grievance that on account of stone blast mining activities, the residents of Billi Markundi, Sector 9, Obra, Sonbhadra are adversely being affected as their houses are getting damaged.

The Appeal has been preferred against order of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Uttarakhand, August 12, 2021 granting EC for establishment of proposed stone crusher plant at village Baluwala, Pargana Pachhwadoon, tehsil Vikasnagar, district Dehradun.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Suraj Singh Karki  Vs State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Uttarakhand & Others dated 09/12/2022.

Appeals were filed against grant of environmental clearances (EC) dated September 9, 2022 by State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Uttarakhand for mining soap stone at village Nayal Biladi, tehsil and district Bageshwar, Uttarakhand.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT), December 7 directed submission of an action plan by the Director, Mining and Geology Directorate, Madhya Pradesh, DFO and District Magistrate, Shivpuri on illegal stone mining in forest area of Mohangarh.

The matter related to illegal sand and stone mining taking place in the Aravalli range in the districts of Faridabad, Gurugram and Nuh in Haryana. Pandala Hills near Gairatpur Bas village, Gurgaon has been severely degraded on account of illegal mining, but no steps have been taken for its ecological restoration. Evidence of fresh illegal mining in Pandala Hills was found on a site visit.
