The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) was directed by the NGT to issue guidelines for utilization of marble slurry and to prevent its unregulated dumping. The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board was ordered to ensure that no illegal extraction of groundwater takes place by marble polish units and industries adhere to zero liquid discharge standard and should have captive or combined slurry utilization plan.

The matter related to illegal operation of a stone crusher unit by Tirupati Minerals at village Dahedi, tehsil Kirnapur, district Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh without following the due process of law. Illegal encroachment in forest land Khasra No. 465 admeasuring about 13.2940 hectares by the miner was also alleged in the application.
Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M/s Himalaya Stone Industry & Others Vs Tejinder Kumar Jolly & Others dated 22/07/2022.
The appellant stone units were established in the year 1985/1987 respectively. "The policy enunciated by the state of Uttarakhand in the year 2020 appears to exempt previously approved/established stone crusher, inter alia, from the duty to comply with the distance parameters which have been provided in the state policy," the SC order said.

The NGT, November 15, 2021 directed a six member joint committee to look into the matter of stone crushers and mineral grinding units which could be allowed in Mahendragarh and subject to what conditions, keeping in mind the air pollution load and adverse impact on public health.
