CHANDIGARH: The Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project at Khedar in Hisar district crossed another major milestone on Wednesday when its first unit of 600 MW was fired on coal and synchronised with the grid in a record period of 36 months.

Yamunanagar: The two major thermal plants of the state - the Yamunanagar-based Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Project of 600 MW and the Super Thermal Plant, Panipat, of 1360 MW - have come under the category of super critical stage due to shortage of coal in the stock for these plants.

The Chandrapur Thermal Power Station (CTPS), which was closed down in 1999, will be revived in joint venture within the next two years and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) and a consortium of three private companies in presence of Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi today.
