DIVERSIFIED business conglomerate Videocon today said it plans to generate 5,000 MW power through projects in Gujarat, Chhatisgarh, Maharashtra and West Bengal.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has proposed to set up a thermal power plant in Jharkhand, reports Navtan Kumar from Ranchi. Raghubar Das, deputy chief minister, who also happens to be in charge of the energy ministry, said a high level team of L&T officials met him this week in this regard.

TALCHER: Production and dispatch of coal at Talcher Coalfield has been badly hit due to ceasework by drivers and operators working under private contractors demanding hike in their wages.

Coal supply to NTPC-Kaniha and Nalco power plant has also been hit due to the strike. As many as 5000 contractual workers working at various transporting agencies resorted to cease work early this morning.

April 8: The Central government has given clearance for expansion of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Ramagundam unit. Construction of the eight and ninth units at 500 mw each is likely to begin in the near future and authorities have prepared plans to complete the project by 2013.

Funds For Setting Up Raigarh Plant

Ind-Bharath Power (Karwar) Limited (IBPKL), has decided to construct a solar power project at Hanakon near Karwar.

The company had earlier shelved its proposed plan to set up a thermal power plant the same site.

The company in its affidavit before the National Environment Appellate Authority, here said that it planned to set up a 25 MW solar power project.
