April 8: The Central government has given clearance for expansion of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Ramagundam unit. Construction of the eight and ninth units at 500 mw each is likely to begin in the near future and authorities have prepared plans to complete the project by 2013.

Funds For Setting Up Raigarh Plant

JINDAL Power, owned by industrialist Naveen Jindal, has raised Rs 10,057 crore from a group of 23 lenders led by State Bank of India to establish a power plant at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh.

Ind-Bharath Power (Karwar) Limited (IBPKL), has decided to construct a solar power project at Hanakon near Karwar.

The company had earlier shelved its proposed plan to set up a thermal power plant the same site.

The company in its affidavit before the National Environment Appellate Authority, here said that it planned to set up a 25 MW solar power project.

Normal supply of power from the Bellary Thermal Power Station (BTPS) is all set to resume by Wednesday morning with the technical snag in the 500-MW unit having been fixed.

The unit tripped on Sunday night, leading to acute power shortage and consequent power cuts in the City.

Ranchi, March 28: Technical snags forced a shutdown at Patratu Thermal Power Station in Ramgarh, plunging the capital and 11 districts into darkness today. The situation is unlikely to improve in the next four days.

Mumbai: The government has been claiming a load-shedding free Maharashtra by 2012, but the provision in the budget indicates otherwise.

Three of its major power generation plants, with consolidated generation of more than 4,000mw, are expected to be commissioned not before 2014-15, the budget document states.
