Bareilly: The state government has directed the chief medical officers of 25 “high risk” districts to conduct a door-to-door survey to for early detection, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.
According to a senior health ministry official, daily treatment regimen is likely to be more effective with lesser relapses and it is expected to reduce drug-resistance with greater compliance.
The fresh 2,387 tuberculosis cases this year have spurred the zilla parishad (ZP) to conduct a door-to-door campaign to eradicate the disease in the district.
India has been toying with the idea of UHC since 2011 when a high-level expert committee, formed by the erstwhile Planning Commission, submitted its report but nothing much came of it.
