The matter related to unauthorized withdrawal of groundwater in major cities of Uttar Pradesh. The court noted that there is large scale illegal extraction of groundwater in Uttar Pradesh by hotels, marriage halls, party lawns including in areas which are scarce in availability of groundwater.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Noorul Sehar Lari Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 10/10/2022.

Grievance in the application is against discharge of untreated sewage at Lar, district Deoria, Uttar Pradesh on open land (khasra no. 1712) with an area of 0.1980 hectares.

Report filed by the Principal Secretary, Urban Development informed the court that a comprehensive city sanitation action plan (CSAP) of the Nagar Panchayat Lar amounting to Rs. 7.40 crore to be funded under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 has been prepared.

The Government of Uttar Pradesh in October 2022, notified the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy to promote growth and employment in the state while prioritising decarbonisation and the state’s contribution to India’s climate goals. The policy shall promote green hydrogen/ammonia production, market creation, and demand aggregation.

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet cleared the bio-energy policy in an attempt to attract big-ticket investments and increase agriculture income in the state. The policy aims at supporting and promoting production of compressed bio-gas, bio-coal, ethanol and bio-diesel in the state.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Daljeet Singh & Others Vs Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board & Others dated 28/09/2022.

The NGT, September 28 noted that steps are not being taken in pursuance of the court order to stop illegal mining and directed the District Magistrates, Shamli and Saharanpur and Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board to take further action if not taken so far and file an action taken report within two months.

The order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vineet Sinha Vs Union of India & Others dated 28/09/2022.

The NGT directed Express Builders and Promoters Private Limited to pay Rs. 15 crores for illegal constructions undertaken in 'Express Zenith', sector 77, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The applicant (Vineet Sinha) said that the project proponent has exceeded the limit of construction with the connivance of the Noida Authority and failed to set up pollution control devices as required.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vireshwar Singh Vs Union of India & Others dated 28/09/2022. The application sought enforcement of the NGT order, June 10, 2021 (E.A. No. 47/2019 in O.A. No. 325/2018, Gaurav Kumar Bansal v. UOI & Ors) directing finalization of notification under Section 26A of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 for protection of the Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary by the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 26/09/2022.

The Supreme Court directed the Agra Development Authority to remove all business activities within 500 meters from the boundary/peripheral wall of the monument Taj Mahal.
