Fomento has said that the construction and setting up of a treatment plant at the Sonsodo dump yard will begin in May and will be completed by March 2011.

KOCHI: The managers of non-degradable waste in the city are a relieved lot as the Refuse- Derived Fuel (RDF) plant at Brahmapuram is all set to open on April 16.

Once the RDF plant becomes operational, the overall efficiency of the Brahmapuram solid-waste plant will increase considerably. This will help reduce the volume of waste materials that are otherwise used as landfill.
