Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2020 relating to standards of Shea Butter and Borneo Tallow/Illipe butter

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on July 27, 2020 has issued the Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2020 to further amend Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011. A new clause 12, in regulation 2.2 has been inserted which specifies the standards for shea butter, which states, “Shea butter shall be free from admixture with other oils and fats and free from adulterants, any foreign matter or added colouring substance. It shall be clear on melting.”
