Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) First Amendment Regulations, 2021
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on August 27, 2021 has issued the Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) First Amendment Regulations, 2021 to further amend the e Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, 2018. The amendment in the Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, 2018 are as follows: In Regulation 7 which specifies “Packaging and Labeling Requirements”, sub-regulation 4 has been substituted, namely: “Every package of food, fortified with Iron shall carry a statement ―People with Thalassemia may take under medical supervision and persons with Sickle Cell Anaemia are advised not to consume iron fortified food products”. In Schedule-I which specifies “Standards for Fortification of Foods”, Clause 1, column 1, serial 1 which specifies “Iodine content’, has been substituted. Clause 3A which specifies “Fortified Milk Powder”, has been inserted. Clause 6 which specifies “Fortified Rice”, has been substituted.
