The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017 as passed by Lok Sabha on 10-4-2017

This bill passed by the Lok  Sabha on April 10, 2017 seeks to save lives by ushering in radical reforms in the motor vehicles law to slap heavy penalty on traffic violators, protecting good samaritans and making vehicle-makers responsible for design defects to cut road accidents.

The Lok Sabha passed the Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2016 that provides for the imposition of hefty penalties on auto companies found manufacturing faulty vehicles. The bill also seeks statuary guidelines for cab aggregators and a 10% annual increase in penalties for traffic rule violations.
