Time series analysis and statistical significance of trends in rainfall data was carried out using standard Mann-Kendall test statistics. The non-parametric Mann-Kendall (M-K) statistical rank test, which is widely used in climate research, was employed in this study to find out fluctuations and presence of trend in time series data of rainfall at a single station, as well as regional averages.

Air pollution is a serious problem in today’s rapidly developing world. Burning of fossil fuels has been the source of air pollution since ages. Coal is a major source of electricity production in India. About 56% of total electricity produced is from Thermal Power Plants (TPPs). In Delhi we have taken 5 TPPs producing about 2800 MW of energy catering to the desire of the nation for this study.Sulphur dioxide (SO2), Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), Total Suspended particulate matter (TSPM) are the main pollutants emitted from TPPs.

Global energy consumption has nearly doubled in the past few decades, and this increase has been driven by population growth, rising living standards, invention of energy-dependent technologies and consumerism. Energy security is a key global challenge - one which will require global perspectives, global thinking, global solutions, and innovation of the highest order.
