The safety of the dam is a very important aspect for safeguarding the national investment and the benefits derived by the nation out of this infrastructure. An unsafe dam poses hazard to human life and property in the downstream reaches. Hence the safety of the dam and the allied structures is very necessary for ensuring the continuance of accrual of benefits and protect the downstream area from any sort of hazards.
The main objective of this study in Kaziranga National Park (Assam) was two fold: 1) Review of protection strategies and suggestion to enhance their effectiveness and 2) Development of a comprehensive capacity building plan for frontline staff.
