Pune: Fourteen villages located in the north of Pimpri-Chinchwad city have opposed merger into the municipal limits citing fear of losing agricultural land for civic amenities.

Pune:The Union ministry for new and renewable energy resources (MNRE) will set up 66 data monitoring stations in high solar power generation areas in the country.

Pune: A survey conducted by World Bank under its water and sanitation programme for Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has revealed that 53% of the residents surveyed were not satisfied with the timings and duration of water supply.

A total of 5,208 houses were covered by the survey conducted in October-November 2012. The study revealed that only 20% of the people agreed that the timings of water supply at public taps was convenient.

Civic Body To Take Steps For Construction Of Toilets: Mayor

Pune: There are just 47 public urinal blocks in Pimpri Chinchwad for about 9 lakh women, reveals a Right to Information (RTI) application.
Vikas Bhumbe, president of Aadhar Social Foundation, who sought the info under RTI, said, “Women face hardships when they travel to the city for work. There is an urgent need for the civic body to construct more toilets for women. The population of Pimpri Chinchwad city, as per the 2011 census, is 17.5 lakh and about half of them are women. This is shocking because the city has a woman as the mayor and the leader of the ruling party.”

PUNE: Over six lakh people living in eastern parts of Pimpri Chinchwad are likely to benefit as the work on a decade-old water pipeline project from Nigdi to Krishnanagar approaches completion. The work was delayed due to land acquisition problems.

The water supply department had laid pipes from Sector 23 in Nigdi to the sump in Krishnanagar and further till Bhosari more than a decade back. However, the work in Triveninagar was pending for the last three to four years due to difficulties in acquiring land.

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will construct dedicated Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) lanes on the Pune-Mumbai highway and Aundh-Ravet Road at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore.

Shirish Poreddy of the civic engineering department said, "The 12-km stretch of the Pune-Mumbai highway from Bhakti Shakti chowk in Nigdi to Harris bridge in Dapodi lies in the municipal limits, as does the 14.5-km stretch of the Aundh-Ravet Road from Rajiv Gandhi bridge on Mula river to Ravet. The PCMC will develop these roads as BRTS routes. The civic body has widened the Pune-Mumbai highway to 61 m and it has 10 lanes."
