With an aim to check encroachment of forest land and human movement in core forest zone, the state government approved creation of buffer zone in Dudhwa National Park that would, in turn, give an impetus to the Project Tiger.

The buffer zone would comprise nearly 150 km long stretch of North Kheri division under which Dudhwa National Park fell.

The Forest department will hold a day-long seminar on the occasion of Bio-diversity Day at Ram Manohar Lohia Law University, Ashiyana, on May 22. The theme of the seminar will be "Invasive Alien Species" and it will be attended by experts from all over the country.

Organic India on Sunday launched surgarcane juice in the form of syurp. The syrup has been fortified with a number of herbs that guard against harmful chemicals found in conventional sugar while maintaining its nutritional qualities.

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has decided to utilise tons of domestic garbage and carcass of animals in a different way. The LMC in place of dumping garbage and carcass on the outskirts of the city will now use it for production of cooking gas. The task has been assigned to a city-based NGO. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the directorate of local bodies here on Thursday.

Taking a serious note of increasing cases of water contamination in the city, Lucknow Municipal Corporation(LMC) and Jal Sansthan have decided to conduct a joint drive across the city.The civic authorities have also introduced several other measures to prevent the residents from several water-borne diseases.
