Lucknow: Spurt in dengue cases in the city has sent the demand for platelets—a human blood component which is the mainstay for treatment in severe cases—soaring.

As many as 45 dengue cases have come to light in the last six days. With this, the total number of dengue positive patients for the state capital stands at 169.

Lucknow: On Thursday, another blackbuck died at Lucknow zoo taking the toll to 14. Though zoo has started putting control measures in place, the disturbing toll over the last few years has made experts feel the need for a detailed study on the cause of death.
