Jayalalithaa reverses DMK regime’s decision on the 1,600-megawatt project

Reversing the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government's decision on the 1,600-megawatt (MW) Udangudi super critical thermal power project, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday announced that her government would implement it as a State sector project, ensuring the availability of the entire power generated to the State.

On the first day of its functioning here, the National Green Tribunal's Circuit Court here set aside the environmental clearance granted by the Tamil Nadu government to the Chennai Corporation's integrated solid waste management facility at Perungudi.

The Nuclear Power Corporation (NPC) has stepped up its plan to reachout to villagers in the vicinity of the upcoming Kudankulam nuclear power project in Tamil Nadu, in a bid to remove their misunderstandings and explain to them the safety features of the proposed 2,000-Mw plant.
