The matter was taken up in light of captioned media report to the effect that forest fire has taken place in Champavat division in Uttarakhand, adversely affecting the environment and biodiversity and the life of inhabitants and animals in the area including Boom, Bhigrada, Devidura forest and Sakedna, Machiyad, Poorvi Tallapal Veloon which requires remedial action.

The grievance is that Reliance BP Mobility Ltd. along with Mussoorie Development Authority is in the process of setting up a retail outlet/petrol pump, village Ajabpur Kalan, Dehradun. The applicant, a resident of the area, is concerned that the proposed land is surrounded by residential houses and has school and high tension wires going in vicinity of the land.

Grievance in the application is against dumping of toxic and other solid waste near Mansa Devi Temple complex by shopkeepers in Rajaji Tiger Reserve area, Uttarakhand and failure of the concerned authorities of the Rajaji Tiger Reserve to take remedial action. As a result of such dumping, health of the animals and birds is adversely affected.

Grievance in the application is against violation of environmental norms in the operation of a hot mixture plant by K.B.M. Infrabuild Pvt. Ltd. in village Nandauli, Pauri Garhwal, at a distance of 100 meters from the habitation.

Grievance in the application is against construction activities in flood plain zone of river Ganga. Municipal Corporation, Rishikesh is constructing toilets in the said area illegally and discharging untreated waste therefrom in river Ganga. No STP has been constructed to treat the waste.

The matter related to construction activities at the bank of river Ganga, where public toilets are being constructed by the Municipal Corporation, Rishikesh and the entire waste therefrom, is directly flown in river Ganga causing pollution. It was further stated by the applicant that no STP has been constructed and the entire untreated discharge is directly leaving to river Ganga.
