Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of N B Minerals Corporation Limited Vs Union of India & Others dated 27/02/2024.

The matter related to mining of magnesite/dolomite by N B Minerals Corporation Limited,  Didihat, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand.

The Supreme Court (SC), February 29, 2024 directed N B Minerals Corporation Limited not to carry out any other construction or mining of magnesite/dolomite.

Action taken report by way of affidavit on behalf of District Chamoli through District Magistrate, Chamoli, Uttarakhand in compliance of NGT order dated November 9, 2023.

The matter is related to the protection of Benital lake.

It has been reported that the size of the lake has reduced to the extent of 0.116 hectare out of the original size of 2 hectares. The lake has a positive role on groundwater recharge, vegetation, ecological stability of the area and in ensuring safe and clean water supply to about 6 villages.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News item titled "Uttarakhand HC Licence expired why is floating hotel running?" appearing in the Times of India dated 07.01.2024 dated 12/02/2024.

Affidavit on behalf of Department of Irrigation, Uttarakhand in compliance of directions passed by the National Green Tribunal vide its order dated January 29, 2024.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News Item titled "Gramino ne SDM se Kailash Nadi mei avaidh khanan rokane kee maang kee" appearing in Hindustan dated 31.10.2023 dated 05/02/2024.

The application was registered suo-moto on the basis of a newspaper report which stated that illegal mining was taking place using JCB and pokeland machines in river Kailash, Nakulia village, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Priyank Karnatak Vs State of Uttarakhand dated 11/01/2024.

In the Original Application, the grievance is about improper functioning of the sewage treatment plants at Badrinath and discharge of untreated water in river Alakananda, which ultimately forms part of river Ganga, thereby polluting the main river, in violation of the River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Authorities Order 2016.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Urvashi Shobhna Kachari Vs Union of India & Others dated 05/01/2024.

The execution application has been filed seeking execution of order of the Tribunal dated February 8, 2023 passed in OA No. 561/2022. In that OA, grievance was raised in respect of large-scale unregulated violation of environmental norms along the pilgrim tracks of Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib, Yamunotri and Gomukh pilgrimage centres in Uttarakhand.
