Anantapur, April 7: The government has decided to divert about Rs 100 crore of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) funds to construct roads in rural areas in Anantapur district.
The Zilla Parishad will assign these works to contractors under the nomination process instead of inviting tenders.

Study finds flaws in system

SHILLONG: Lack of technical staff, non-posting of regular BDOs, non-compliance of guidelines and demand of bribe by banks have been the bane in the implementation of the poverty alleviation programmes in Meghalaya.

This was disclosed in an "evaluation study" of National Rural Employment Generation Scheme (NREGS) at the instance of the State government.
