Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will dedicate to the nation the second indigenous nuclear power reactor fuel reprocessing plant, with a capacity of 100 tonnes per annum, at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre

MUMBAI: In a sheer coincidence, two reactors at BARC in Trombay, which have played a key role in India's nuclear weapon programme, will celebrate their anniversaries-one golden and the other silver- on Saturday.

The 40 mw Indo-Canadian Cirus reactor went critical on July 10, 1960, and the 100 mw Dhruva reactor started functioning on August 8, 1985.

Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has announced a hike in compensation for the project-affected people from Jaitapur.

While rubbishing the worries raised about the environment and security in regard to the nuclear project, Chavan said that the resistance against it was driven by the misconception spread due to vested interests.
