The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) would receive the award of excellence for providing houses to the urban poor under the ambitious Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Notably, 15,000 houses for poor are being constructed in different identified localities of the city under the central funded scheme in question.

For the beautification and development of the Upper Lake, five national and international level consultants would prepare concept plan within three months on competitive basis. The better one would be accepted and the consultant would get the responsibility of the development work of the lake.

New Delhi: Around 200 victims and survivors of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy will hold a protest march in the capital on Thursday to press for their long pending demands of rehabilitation and medical care.

The Jalabhishek Abhiyan bas been specially focused this year on recharging of dried up rivers, nullahs and reservoirs. On this these, jal yatras will be taken out throughout the state for recharging of dried up water sources. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch the statewide campaign at Ratlam by starting the recharging work of Jaman river.

After receiving several national level institutes, the city of lakes will now have the National Green Tribunal, which would be the judicial authority to deal with environmental related damages. The tribunal will be located at IIFM Bhopal.

The procurement which began in the state since March 15, is going on in full swing. All the 1200 procurement centres have become active now. Five lakh 30 thousand metric tonnes of wheat has been procured by March 31.
