Being acknowledged by the importance of water in human life and its decreasing ratio in the world, water conservation has become a major issue for most countries today. To understand media's role in this critical issue a seminar was jointly organised by India Water Portal and Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism (MCRPVV) on Thursday.

Two-day Seminar will be organised under the aegis of Academy of Science Engineering and Technology from Jan 16 to 17 at Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH). More than 250 scientists of environment and fisheries, National and International standard scientists from the country will be taking part in the seminar.

Conservation of biodiversity is vital that the next generation is linked with it so that they can realise the worth of their natural wealth and pledge for its conservation, said Biodiversity and Technology Department Secretary Jabbar Dhakwala. He was inaugurating the 'International Biodiversity Year 2010' here today.

A total of 60 cities of the country are proposed to be developed as Solar Cities during the 11th plan period. The objective is minimum 10 per cent reduction in projected total demand of conventional energy. At least one city in each State to a maximum of five cities in a State will be supported by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
