Number of swamp deer has increased at the Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve in the last five years.

The Forest Department has assured to conduct research and census of wildlife in a more transparent manner with the involvement of NGOs and students of various institutions from the State.

Counting of swamp deer and one-horned rhino has begun at Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve in Kanchanpur from today.

The tiger census was completed at the wildlife area a month ago.

PANJIM: The Forest Department will conduct a wild animal census and also assess the existence of tigers in wildlife sanctuaries. The Wildlife Census 2014, will be conducted from April 21 to 26.
