Policy air bubbles and implementation snags could block plans to connect India's cities to a clean fuel grid.

Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (Gepco) has constituted various teams for the awareness of consumers on energy saving and its advantages. Talking to newsmen, Gepco Chief Executive Gujranwala region Rana Muhammad Ashraf on Wednesday said the teams would apprise general public, especially the owners of CNG stations, petrol pumps and traders, of ways to save energy to ensure smooth power supply.

* In a few years, households receiving piped gas at home can use a fuel cell unit to produce power and heat, which can also be used to chill homes during summer. The fuel cell unit also produces hydrogen, which can be stored and used to run a motorcycle.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Centre and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board on a petition filed by an NGO alleging that it did not have the authority to issue licence to begin CNG retailing in cities.

To get priority over petrochemical and power projects in gas supply.

The government has promoted the city gas distribution (CGD) project, for which the first round of authorisation is underway, to the second spot in its priority list for gas utlilisation. The first spot is held by the fertiliser sector.

People of the millennium city have a reason to rejoice. They will now get CNG without standing in long queues. Like Delhi, the city will also get the gas directly by the pipeline from today.

Keeping up its promise, Haryana Gas Distribution Company has also reduced the price of the gas by Rs 3.50.

Vice-president of Harayana Gas Distribution Company, M S Khatkar, has confirmed the news.
