In the aftermath of the tsunami in Japan, the Centre is considering fine-tuning its plans of locating key infrastructure projects, such as power plants, along the coast.

Power Finance Corporation, a Navratna public sector lender, is in the process of creating a wholly-owned subsidiary for the renewable energy sector, in a couple of weeks, to be called PFC Green Energy Ltd.

M K GoelM K Goel, director (commercial), PFC, told reporters here today that this sector required relatively smaller amounts and had not been getting adequate priority.

THE government will bid out at least two ultra mega power projects (UMPPs) of 4000mw each in April 2010 to make up for the slippage in power capacity addition in previous years, a senior power ministry official said.
