Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own motion Vs State of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 08/06/2021.

The issue for consideration is the remedial steps for maintaining ecology in the area of Manali and Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own Motion Vs State of Karnataka dated 12/03/2021. The issue for consideration was remedial action for restoration of Bellandur, Agara and Varthur lakes at Bangalore, including preventing discharge and dumping of pollutants, removing encroachments from catchment area and other steps for restoration. The matter had been dealt with by the Tribunal on several occasions in the last almost four years.

Affidavit filed on behalf of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) in the matter of Court on its own motion Vs State of Karnataka. The report mentioned the measures taken by the BWSSB with respect to execution of projects for setting up sewage treatment plants (STPs) and laying of sewerage network and upgradation of STPs with biological nutrient removal by September 30, 2020.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own Motion Applicant Vs State of Karnataka dated 18/12/2019 regarding remedial action for restoration of Bellandur, Agara and Varthur lakes at Bangalore – preventing discharge and dumping of pollutants, removing encroachments from catchment area and other steps for restoration.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own Motion Vs State of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 11/03/2019 regarding pollution of river Ashwani Khad which was supplying drinking water to Shimla city in the State of Himachal Pradesh. The matter was taken up to consider the allegation that solid waste was being dumped into the drains which are joining Ashwani Khad illegally.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own Motion Vs Ministry of Environment and Forests & Climate Change & Others dated 11/03/2019 regarding pollution being caused in Kosi River in Rampur District in Uttar Pradesh by industrial activities. A report filed by CPCB says that the water quality is as per bathing standards upto Kosi barrage, Uttrakhand. The water quality deteriorates after confluence of the river Bhella in Muradabad and becomes highly polluted at Rampur where Rampur drain joins the river.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own motion Vs. State of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 20/08/2018 regarding construction of ‘Palchan–Rohtang’ Ropeway. NGT questions why forest clearance has not been granted inspite the Court's directions.

Court expresses its unhappiness at the progress of compliance of directions of NGT and directs the Secretary, Forest Department and Secretary Urban Development of the Government of Himachal Pradesh to remain present on the next date to explain their stand.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own Motion Vs. State of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 17/07/2018 regarding dumping of plastic waste in River Ashwani Khud in in Himachal Pradesh which had supplied drinking water to the city of Shimla till last year.

Member Secretary Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board has been directed to verify the facts and send his report within one week.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own Motion Vs State of Punjab dated 16/07/2018 regarding contamination of drinking water by heavy metals in Punjab especially in Districts of Amritsar and Ludhiana because of polluting industries.
