In an initiative that is the first of its kind in India, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) inaugurated its second wastewater recycling unit at the Wazirabad Water Works on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI: The Public Water Agency of the Year 2009-10 award was conferred on the Delhi Jal Board at the fourth Water Digest Awards here recently.

The award was presented to Jal Board Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Negi by Union Water Resources Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.

NEW DELHI: In the New Year, the Capital will get an additional 21 million gallons of water every day. Not enough for the burgeoning city and its growing needs, but not too insignificant to go unnoticed. Two more water recycling plants of the Delhi Jal Board are ready for commissioning.

The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has given its nod to a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) proposal asking for radiation technology to set up a sludge treatment plant near the Rithala Sewage treatment plant here.

The DJB move aims to convert waste sludge to act as an environment healer as it can be used for power generation and as fertiliser.
