After working towards cleaning the Yamuna since 1993 in two phases of the Yamuna Action Plan, the government is now proposing Yamuna Action Plan-III (YAP-III), seeking a loan of Rs 833 crore from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Apart from several key projects aimed at introducing comprehensive water and sewage management systems in Delhi, the Delhi Jal Board in its 97th board meeting today decided to levy an extra infrastructure charge on multi-storeyed apartments.

The residents would also have to pay more for new water connections and sewerage facilities.

Amidst flurry of construction activities in the capital, Delhi Jal Board has decided to levy an extra infrastructure charge on multistoreyed apartments, with more than four storeys, exceeding 250 square yard of plot size.
The DJB in its board meeting also decided to draft a Master Plan 2031, which would be done by a consultant, to prepare the water body to meet challenges 21 years ahead.

The Delhi Jal Board was accorded administrative approval on Tuesday for development of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at its Bhagirathi water treatment plant.

Once installed, the system, to be set up at the cost of Rs 121 crore, will provide real-time data delivery to authorised personnel who can make informed choices to step up operational efficiency of the plant.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board is gearing up to post information related to water supply or its non-availability on a daily basis on its website. The decision follows an order from the Central Information Commission to the Jal Board.

In its ongoing efforts at rationalising water management by recycling and treating wastewater, the Delhi Jal Board on Thursday inaugurated a 10-million gallon per day (MGD) recycling plant at the Bhagirathi Water Works, in Gokulpuri, Northeast Delhi. The plant will get raw water from processed waste water from the existing 100 MGD Bhagirathi Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

Stating that Delhi Government is very much concerned about completion of the Munak-Haiderpur Canal project within the stipulated time, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday said talks with Haryana Government are on and the issue would be resolved soon. She further said that even PM Manmohan Singh wanted that the project should be completed soon.

New Delhi: Delhi Jal Board (DJB), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Central Public Works Department (CPWD) are in trouble for supplying untreated sewage water to Lodhi Garden for horticulture purposes.

In its ongoing efforts to keep the Yamuna river clean, the Centre has okayed a major interceptor sewer project for the city under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The Ministry of Urban Development will provide 35 per cent cost of the project under the JNNURM, while the rest of the cost would be bear by the Delhi Government.
