NEW DELHI: Even as the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department has closed down the Upper Ganga Canal for annual maintenance, the Delhi Jal Board has announced that the city will continue to get its share of Ganga water.

The UP Irrigation Department on Tuesday closed the Upper Ganga Canal for its annual maintenance exercise. A senior Delhi Jal Board (DJB) official said the canal will be closed till Diwali on October 17.

In an attempt to make the water distribution system more efficient in the city, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has decided to come up with an online data network.

The online data system will check the quality of water, control its flow and centrally monitor its availability.
