AKIVIDU, March 28: The state government will take up canal modernisation in Tungabhadra, Krishna and Penna rivers along with the Godavari and Krishna delta, and Rs 1,470 crore is being spent for the purpose.

Hyderabad, Feb. 16: The Godavari delta, which is considered the rice bowl of the state, faces severe threat due to reduced river inflows coupled with the delay in completing the multi-purpose Indira Sagar Polavaram irrigation project.

In the first ever biggest deal signed with public sector undertaking, Goa-based National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) will now study the climate changes in Krishna-Godavari basin off the east coast of India.
The project worth Rs 10.37 crore has been awarded to NIO by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
