After a smooth beginning to the Posco land acquisition work on Wednesday, the Jagatsinghpur district administration today faced a roadblock in the process as many villagers did not turn up for identification of betel vines following the arrest of 32 activists of United Action Committee, a pro-Posco outfit.
In a major turn of events, the United Action Committee (UAC), a pro-Posco forum that was hitherto supporting the proposed `52,000-crore steel plant project, on Thursday turned hostile and obstructed land acquisition process, forcing the administration to arrest at least 32 UAC members.
The arrested persons, among others, included UAC president Anadi Rout.
