Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Raja Muzzaffar Bhat Vs U.T. of Jammu & Kashmir dated 08/07/2020 regarding dumping of municipal solid waste in Wular lake around Ningli Tarzoo in Baramulla District in J&K. The lake in question is a wetland and a Ramsar site and is thus an eco-sensitive area.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Paryavaran Suraksha Samiti & Others Versus Union of India & Others dated 21/05/2020.

These applications have been filed by municipal council, Udhampur, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir challenging order of the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board dated 21.11.2019 and 30.01.2020 requiring the municipal council to pay compensation for violation of environmental norms.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Pritam Singh Vs Union Territory of J&K & Others dated 05/05/2020.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Inam Un Nabi Vs State of Jammu & Kashmir dated 16/04/2019. Allegation in this letter, which has been treated as an application, was that construction of mega commercial building on the bank of river Jhelum near busy Abdullah Bridge in Srinagar was taking place in violation of the order of the High Court.

Report in terms of the National Green Tribunal order of January 9, 2020 in O.A. No. 295/2016 in the matter of Amresh Singh Vs Union of India. The report was filed by the NGT Monitoring Committee, Jammu on March 17, 2020. The matter arise from a complaint lodged by one Amresh Singh with regard to rampant dumping of soil in Chenab and Tawi rivers in the process of four-laning of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, NH-44 from Udhampur to Banihal, adversely affecting the environmental balance.

Action taken report of the District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner Doda and Jammu & Kashmir Pollution Control Board in terms of the NGT order of January 9, 2020 in O.A. No. 1047/2019. The matter relates to operation of stone crushers and hot mix plants in distric Doda.

The alleged illegal stone crushers and hot mix plants were inspected and necessary action taken against defaulting units. Around 12 stone crushers and hot mix plants were closed down due to failure to produce the requisite permissions to operate the units.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Shujaat Hussain Vs Union Territory Jammu & Kashmir dated 02/03/2020.

Compliance report on behalf of the Chief Secretary Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in terms of the National Green Tribunal order of April 5, 2019 and July 26, 2019.

The matter related to unregulated mining of minor minerals and sand mining. The report informed the Tribunal that no mining lease had been granted without obtaining environmental clearances from the concerned authorities. Jammu & Kashmir has very little scope for exclusive sand mining, as sporadic sand occurs with river bed material across Jammu & Kashmir.
