Tribunal directs the State of Rajasthan to immediately stop the construction of the road.

NGT in its Order expressed dismay at the manner in which the District Administration, Jodhpur and Badmer has been responding in this case for complying with the directions given from time and again. Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Laxmi Suiting & Others Vs. State of Rajasthan & Others dated 01/04/2016 regarding unlawful extraction of groundwater by industries in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

A Team of CGWA (Central Ground Water Authority) shall visit Jodhpur and submit a comprehensive report as to which area, if any, where extraction of water would be necessary for maintaining hygiene and environment as well as the life of the people in Jodhpur and which parts of Jodhpur are critical or no extraction of ground water should be permitted.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of U.R. Beniwal Vs. State of Rajasthan & Ors dated 15/02/2016 regarding unlawful extraction of groundwater by industries in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

It is undisputed that the area in question is a ‘Dark Zone’ for the purpose of extraction of water. Counsel appearing for the Applicant points out that the inspection team has noticed that by and large all industries are extracting ground water unauthorisedly and do not have permission from the CGWA.
