Kochi city is poised to join hands with the rest of the world to observe Earth Day on April 22 even as the threat of climate change is escalating by the day. The focus of the 40th anniversary of the Earth Day observance will be Green Generation Campaign.

As many as 934 cities and towns in 80 countries have already expressed their willingness to be part of Earth Hour 2009, a novel initiative where lights will be switched off for an hour on March 28, 2009 at 8.30 pm, as part of the fight against global warming.
