NEW DELHI: Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh has sought a proposal from Karnataka for declaring the Kudremukh National Park a tiger reserve.

ENVIRONMENT minister Jairam Ramesh has asked the Karnataka government to submit a proposal to declare the Kudremukh National Park in the Western Ghats as a tiger reserve.
Chikmagalur: Western Ghat Task Force Member Dr Keshava Hegde Korse said that the number of wild animals has been increased considerably after mining activities were wound up by the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited.
Speaking to Deccan Herald here on Tuesday, he said that a serene atmosphere prevails in the region after mining activities were stopped.
