Mumbai: Even as the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) continues to reel under financial strain with non-payment of dues up to Rs8,000 crore, the state government seems to have added to its woes.

The government is yet to shell out over Rs600 crore for the 1,500 MW power it had directed MSEDCL to purchase to avoid shortage during parliamentary elections.

Mumbai: The state government will hold a public meeting in Jaitapur (in Ratnagiri district) on May 16 to discuss the environmental repercussions of the controversial nuclear power project proposed for the town.

The Union environment ministry will take into account the suggestions and objections raised in the meeting before giving clearance to the project.

Pune The Rs 398 crore-pipeline project of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municiapal Corporation (PCMC) from the Pavana dam to Nigdi is facing opposition from villagers over land acquisition. The project was supposed to be completed in two years after its bhoomipoojan, which had taken place on May 1, 2008.

Mumbai: After implementing the zero load-shedding (ZLS) model at the headquarters of revenue divisions, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) now wants to extend the model to even the district headquarters.
