MUMBAI: A Bhandup slum will be the latest to get solar-powered streetlights. Local corporator Kashinath Karadkar has forwarded his proposal to the BMC standing committee for the lights in Sahyadri nagar. The proposal may come up before the standing committee on Wednesday.

Pune Spurred by the energy audit that has shown the way to saving power, the Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to take up the energy audit of all its buildings from hospitals, schools, gardens to the one lakh street lights in the city so that it could reduce its electricity bill of Rs 1.75 crore per month.
